Spring Concert Band Concert – April 13

The Notre Dame Band is proud to present its Symphonic Winds and Symphonic Band in concert on Sunday, April 13 at 7 pm in the Leighton Concert Hall at the DeBartolo Performing Arts Center.  Highlights of the concert will include selections by John Williams and David Gillingham, and Assistant Band Director Justin McManus performing the 1st movement of Mozart’s Concerto in Bb Major for Bassoon.

The concert’s grand finale will feature nearly 200 musicians performing on stage as both bands combine for several selections and traditional Notre Dame favorites.

Spring Concert Band Tour

From May 9-12, members of the Notre Dame Concert Band will participate in a spring tour to Indiana and Ohio.  The concert program will include a wide variety of music including marches, wind band classics, transcriptions, and traditional Notre Dame favorites, and will feature baritone Stephen Lancaster and Notre Dame’s New Orleans Brass Band.

Notre Dame Bands in Hockey/Basketball Postseason

2 Notre Dame Varsity Bands will be traveling this weekend!  This past weekend, No. 8 seed Notre Dame upset No. 1 seed Boston College on its home rink in the Hockey East Quarterfinals.  The Irish now advance to the TD Garden arena in Boston, MA to play UMass-Lowell in the Semifinals this weekend.  The band will be led by Assistant Director Matthew Merten, and the Irish take the ice at 5P.M on Saturday, March 21.

In addition, the Notre Dame Women’s Basketball team recently completed a sweep of the Atlantic Coast Conference in their inaugural year.  The Irish stand undefeated after the 2013-14 season, and begin their postseason journey at Savage Arena in Toledo Ohio.  Tip-off against Robert Morris University is 1:30PM on Saturday, March 22 and will be carried by ESPN; the band will be led by Assistant Director Sam Sanchez.

Band Exhibit at Center for History

Celebrating 168 years, Notre Dame’s historic Band of the Fighting Irish is on display at the Center for History through July, 2014. Experience the sights, sounds, and musical artifacts that have marched through the years with the oldest band in the land. The Center for History is open 7 days a week until 5 p.m. at 808 W. Washington St. in South Bend.
