Announcing our 2017-18 Drum Majors

After several weeks of auditions and interviews, the band selected its 2017-18 Drum Major team!
 

Molly Demel, Head Drum Major

My name is Molly Demel and I am a Neuroscience and Behavior major and Theology minor.  I am from Wichita, Kansas, and I live in Lyons Hall here at Notre Dame.  I am a proud member of the saxophone section and I participate in concert bands, basketball band, and saxophone choir in addition to Marching Band.  I had the honor of serving as one of the Secretaries of the Band of the Fighting Irish last season.  I am also a Student Director for our Bandlink Program, a music outreach program for students at Christ the King, Holy Cross, and Corpus Cristi. Additionally, I work in the band building as a FUIC (Friendly Uniform and Instrument Custodian).  Outside of band, I am a member of the Anchor Leadership Program where I serve as a Core Anchor Leader, and I have been a teacher in the Catechism Program at St. Adalbert's Parish for two years.  I am honored to serve our wonderful band family as Drum Major, and I thrilled to see what this next season has in store!

 

Grant Grojean, Assistant Drum Major

Hi! My name's Grant, and I am a Finance and Economics major from St. Paul, Minnesota. I have had the honor of being a part of the trumpet section in the band, as well as serve as the band's Treasurer this past year. Other than marching band, I have participated in Symphonic Band, University Band on trombone, jazz band, and hockey band. In my spare time I enjoy training for the highly anticipated Curling season here on campus. I approach the next marching season with great excitement and gratitude to be able to serve as a Drum Major, and I can't wait to get back on the field! 










 

Jake Ricci, Assistant Drum Major

I am a Neuroscience and Behavior major originally from Brookfield, Wisconsin, just West of Milwaukee. Beyond being a member of the Notre Dame Drumline, where I served as the subsection leader of the cymbal line, I also participate in Varsity Hockey Band. Outside of band, I participate the Notre Dame Bagpipe Band and assist with sound tech for PEMCo’s (Pasquerilla East Music Company) theater productions. I am honored to serve as one of the Assistant Drum Majors and am excited to march alongside the Band family in the upcoming season.
