4/13/17 - 2017 Jazz Tour

In April 2017, the Notre Dame Jazz Band and New Orleans Brass Band traveled to several locations in the greater Chicago area for performances and service events. The tour began with a concert at Mount Carmel High School, performing alongside the student musicians there. Following the performance, members of the ND program broke into smaller groups for one-on-one or small group instruction.

High school students had the opportunity to not only gain valuable musical tips from our band members, but also received general college and life advice. Our next stop was St. Barnabas Parish, similarly having the chance to perform and then work with a number of very talented high schoo musicians. 

Later in the afternoon, the ND bands took the historic step of performing at The Jazz Showcase, the only jazz club in the city of Chicago. Both bands played to an enthusiastic and packed crowd, including a standout performance by junior trumpet player Tom Kane of Benny Golson's I Remember Clifford.
